The short version: SpaceWise stores file paths, sizes, timestamps, file types, classifications, and scan history on your Mac. It does not read the contents of your personal documents, photos, videos, or other data files. If you enter a license key, the app sends the key and installation identifiers to Lemon Squeezy for activation and checks. It does not send your files or scan results.

1. What SpaceWise does on your device

SpaceWise stores file paths, sizes, timestamps, file types, classifications, and review state in a local SQLite database in your user Application Support folder. Scan and cleanup history is stored there too. This information is not sent to SpaceWise or Lemon Squeezy.

SpaceWise does not read the contents of personal documents, photos, videos, or other data files. To identify installed apps, it reads the Contents/Info.plist metadata inside app bundles. To check Full Disk Access, it opens the protected macOS TCC database and closes it without reading its contents. Scanning and cleanup do not upload files, file listings, or scan results.

3. License checks and payments

When you enter a license key, SpaceWise sends it to Lemon Squeezy to check the store and product and register this Mac. Activation also sends a randomly generated installation label; Lemon Squeezy returns an instance identifier. The key and identifier are stored in this Mac’s device-only Keychain. If a key is saved, SpaceWise checks it when the app launches and returns to the foreground. While it stays open, checks are limited to once an hour. Choosing Deactivate asks Lemon Squeezy to release the installation. These requests contain the key and installation identifiers, not file names, paths, sizes, or scan results. Without a saved or entered key, the app does not contact the license service.

If you choose to buy something, payment and billing are handled by Lemon Squeezy under its privacy policy. SpaceWise does not receive or store payment details. Both public checkout links are currently in test mode, so live purchases are unavailable.

4. Rules database

The classification rules that identify items such as Ollama model folders and Xcode caches are included in the app. SpaceWise does not download rule updates. Installing a new version is the only way to get updated rules. This policy will change if that behavior changes.

5. Data you control

Scan and cleanup history is stored in a local SQLite database. You can remove it with Clear History in Settings. The license key and installation identifier are stored separately in the device-only Keychain; use Deactivate to release a saved license. Uninstalling SpaceWise does not necessarily remove its database or Keychain items. Lemon Squeezy keeps its own order and license records under its policies. SpaceWise does not receive scan data on a server.

6. Changes to this policy

If SpaceWise’s data handling changes, we will update this policy and its date.

7. Contact

Questions about this policy: hello@spacewise.space.

8. Website contact messages

If you use the business and product contact form, the information you provide—name, reply email, optional organization and team size, selected topic, and message—is handed to the website’s hosting mail service for delivery to the developer. The form does not save messages in a SpaceWise database. To limit spam, it keeps a one-way hash of the connection address and recent submission times in temporary hosting storage; the form does not store the raw address in that rate-limit record, and timestamps older than an hour are discarded on a later submission. The hosting provider may process routine connection and security logs under its own terms. Email is retained in the recipient’s mailbox under that mailbox provider’s policies. Do not include passwords, license keys, sensitive business information, or private file paths.
